Baroque, beer, botanics – these three words mark the market town of Altomünster and its ambiance.
The Baroque parish and monastery churches of St. Alto and St. Brigitta built by the famous church architect Johann Michael Fischer lie embedded in the hill landscape and can be seen from far.
A sightseeing tour of the churches, museums and galleries is best completed by a break at one of the homey guesthouses, two of which are breweries, at the historic market square. Enjoy a local beer – in Altomünster are two breweries – and a hearty snack to recharge for one of the many hiking tours that can be undertaken in the surroundings.
Altomünster is located in the town triangle of Munich – Augsburg – Ingolstadt und can be best reached on the A8, exit Sulzemoos or Adelshausen resp. or by taking the S-train A to Altomünster-Dachau (-Munich).
