Plant enthusiasts from near and far know about the famous gardens in Freising-Weihenstephan.
The Technical College for Gardening and the Institute for Agriculture keep several gardens, a research institution and the wood theme trail. All these facilities are appreciated by laypersons as well as scientists.
The park-like Hofgarten on the Weihenstephan mountain used to be a monastery garden. Old trees, bushes and seasonal plants impress in any season.
The Oberdieck garden presents exciting gardening topics in clearly structured spaces. Along a road is a garden for bushes and woods. It was founded in 1947 by Prof. Richard Hansen. This university garden ranks among the five top gardens of Germany. New types of roses are checked there. Today the garden unites ecology, grooming and aesthetics of plant communities. Woods and bushes are independently checked for their value for gardens. Neighbouring gardens hand on well-founded information to private gardeners.
